Hi Guys

I'm new here (love it so far!) so this may have come up before and I have not seen it.

Has anyone put an cruise control on their KLR? Not talking about a throttle lock here but an electronic cruise control. I suppose that it could be adapted for use on any bike if you put your mind to it but was just wondering if anyone had successfully put one on a KLR. I did a Google search and came up empty which makes me believe that its slim pickings out there.

Anyway, this looks like a good place to start so here I am and all answers are appreciated!

KLR folk tend to gravitate towards bungee cords and plumbing supplies. :)

Yeah, it looks that way! :)

And truly, I do not have an issue with just some kind of throttle lock and used them for years on my PC800 and my R1100RT, but after having real gee whiz cruise control on my Goldwing I just had to wonder if there was something similar for the KLR. For sure, was just curious.

There used to be a Rube Goldberg affair for carburetted bikes, but I can't remember who made it or who sold it. IIRC, it had vacuum cans and rods and linkages and bell-cranks and was fussy as all get out.

Nowadays the electronic ones work with the EFI/TPI and such, which we ain't got.

I've tried a couple of throttle locks, this one being the best, and one of those or a bungee will do you fine.

You are correct about that throttle lock. I have one on my 2006 and it works really good. I just bought a Kaoko from another poster here and hoping it will work well.

Like I said a throttle lock is just fine for my needs, I really was just curious as to if a real cruise control would work.
