: I need to ride!

I have been working like a fool for the last month, and only been able to do a teaser ride. (125 miles) It is time to get out and ride this area. I would like to do the Fishrock, Guala Zin-Zen ride. This would be about 250 miles. We would have two dirt segments (Fish Rock Rd, and Old toll Road) with all the twisties, and coast, and inland stuff to boot. Could be alot of fun.

I am thinking first part of September, pick a day.

Zin, and Cabrito, please chime in too! It could be an over night jaunt too!

Chiming in without invitation, but I'd love to do a ride...weekdays are out for me cause of work, though.

I could do a Sunday for sure. (Some saturdays I might have to work)

Just walked in from work- could sure use a ride as well. I can always pull a Monday and can likely do a Sunday with enough notice.

Just got the Cogent suspension package and will try to install this week. I am excited to go test it out.

Need to plan soon. September is already pretty booked up for me. Or was that October that is already booked up?

We could incorporate a pass by my place in Cobb if we take the zin zen road. BBQ on my Deck?

Let's go!

How about the last weekend in September. That way we all have time to talk to spouses, and I can save face for my wife reminding that we are camping that weekend, and ALL OF YOU had something to do that weekend.

I am most likely down for this if its an open invite.

Also thinking about crashing this (http://www.klrforum.com/showthread.php?t=11375) the last weekend of September (24/25) might fit in perfectly.

Also working on this (http://www.klrforum.com/showthread.php?t=11350) for the weekend before, which could turn into a few days of Reno, Tonopah, Rachel, Vegas or something to that extent..Might skip Vegas and pop back through Yosemite.

Remember that I'm not sure I can get the 10th weekend off work. I'll have to try and get someone to switch with me, but won't be able to check for sure until I get back to work next week.

We can make this a one day ride, or an overnighter. Michael, you mentioned BBQ in Cobb. Is there a campground up there? Or is everyone going to bail, and head home? It does not matter to me, other than riding St. Helena at night.

There is a killer secret campground in Cobb that we could hit or we could crash at my house up there. I have a one bedroom house, but there is a couch and a futon in the large living area. Plenty of floor or deck space to crash.
I'm down for whatever.
I drive St. Helena at night all the time. It's no big deal for me, but I'd rather crash at my place or camp.

OK,
The 17th. My house 7am. Kickstands up at 7:30. If any of you Losers need a place to crash, I suggest motel 6. (Gawd, that felt good) So, I have plenty of space for the clapped out KLR freaks at my place, complete with stripper pole (B.Y.O.S) and I am thinking that a Poker game should break out somewhere in the mix...and PBJ's For dinner. We are going 101 to 128, to Fishrock Rd. Fishrock to Guala, and then 128 back to Mtn. House rd to Hopland. I think Hopland would be the choice for lunch. Then Old toll Rd to Upperlake. Upperlake to Bottlerock Rd, and Cabrito leads from there. About a 250 mile ride. (I don't do maps well, so figure it out!)

Comments, Questions, Ideas?

Cabrito,

MB4

No reservations needed. No fees..
25 miles of unimproved roads, over 21 miles of non-motorized use trails and two no-fee campgrounds with 19 campsites.

There is an unofficial target shooting area for those who like to shoot. It's not near the camping area.

I prefer not to name it on the internets because I feel like it's my little secret area and don't want to draw a lot of attention to it.

It's in Cobb, and if for any reason there are not sites available we can crash at my place in Cobb. I've never seen it with more than a few campers unless there is a mountain bike event or a Geocache event happening.

There is a great store near by and a cafe to get latte's or whatever your poison is. It's also a good cheap breakfast burrito place.

Two sections of dirt. Fishrock is about ten miles of dirt, with some washboard parts. the second is old toll road, about ten miles of dirt road. Nothing extreme on either.

Michael, not sure if SLO is making this one. I'll have to check with him!

There are a few easy miles of dirt between the Old Toll road and the camping area too. Then when we enter the Forrest to camp there will be a few more miles of easy dirt, and some more if we want to explore with some pretty steep hills.

Ride... OOOOOOOoooooooo!

We have alot of ground to cover that day ladies. We are heading out to the coast, then up the coast, then back all the way inland. Then through the hills, and up in the mountains. Break times will be a little short, but sort-of frenquent. My hopes are to reach camp by 4pm. That way we have time to set up, and may-be ride a little more. Wood gathering, may-be a few rounds shot, whatever. Bring snacks, water, and such. Looking forward to riding with all you clapped out KLRistas.
