I am going to begin to search for at least 1 moderator at this time. I am going to start here first.

If you could choose one person here on the forum to be a moderator who would it be? Must be someone other than yourself.

I hope this search will help the process withou having to bring in someone else from the outside.

either of these gentleman would do a fine job. fair and speedy. there are many other as well. lots people her that have alot of internet forum experience.

I'm gonna throw this out there as help for choices, since I've been there..

The choice MUST have a level head. You can't explode, (at least online) no matter what happens.

You have to have time to actually wander in here everyday, and have access to email in case some jerk is starting something or posting spam/porn/etc and someone emails you about it.

You have to attempt to understand all sides of the situation, take a breath, and then understand it again before making an action.

You have to understand that deleting something will eliminate an issue, while closing it will only advertise the situation and cause more issues.. (We've all seen this, haven't we?)

And last, the person has to be someone who will continue to use the site, and will retain the desire to come here and do this job..

Moderating doesn't pay very well, and sometimes it's a pain in the butt.. But, you tend to get more personal with a lot more users than not being a moderator.

That's my take on it. I was a moderator for several years, and NO, I don't want to be a moderator here since I don't have access to the site on a daily basis due to constant travel and long hours in a papermill.. I just want nominators and nominatees to understand what they're doing, completely.. The "other" site had some great moderators, and some of the worst I've ever seen.. It's a mistake that doesn't have to be made again..

I think Biker Scout already showed some interest in doing it, didn't he? Any of the guys mentioned so far sound good.

Lots of good people out there. However if bikerscout showed interest, then it sounds like a winner to me!

This process allows me to narrow a sites worth of members down to a few recommended by those who already have experience with them. I dont any members of this site from any previous experience. So it is not easy to grant mod permissions with out first getting feedback, Once the list is made it will then be up to the individual to show proof of experience and ability to handle the job in an unoffencive manner. I take my sites very seriously and will not have someone empowered turning things into a nightmare, when it only takes a little homework.

Thanks to everyone for the help so far. Its all in an effort to make a site for the members, after all you guys know what you want, I'm just here to make sure it gets as close to that as possible.

Thank guys for the nominations. My only qualifications for the job are my morals, good judgement, and fair and honest treatment of others. At the other site you can search for any of my posts and see that even if topics got out of hand I always had the level headed response, and was well liked by all. I know it doesn't count for anything, but in my response, the Rep Points should hold some validity to what I'm trying to say. I've got nearly 300 points in the short time I was on the forum, as opposed to other's who have more but have been there longer, and have more posts.

I'm not a post whore by any means, as I pick my words carefully, and only post if my response can help people. Which is hard when you are new to motorcycling and want to be helpful to others. That means that I've had to learn a lot and listen to others who know more than I do. Those atributes are what I feel makes a good moderator.

We have one moderator spot fillded by Biker Scout, I am going to round up one more for now and hopefully that will keep us in good shape for a while.

Still searching, any more suggestions?

Daddyjoe would make an excellent mod IMO. If he'd be willing to take it on.

I said it on another thread, Swish really kept us in line on the other board. She's my vote.

Maniac was a good moderator on the other board, if he comes over here.

TheOtherBigJoe would also be good, he kinda lead the charge over here with Biker Scout.
