When I do get my KLR this spring/summer, one of the first things I am considering adding is the Sequoia soft storage package, which is available from TCI products. What I like is that the packs are lightweight, portable and spacious. Does anybody have experience with this system?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

The main portion of the rack is rock solid. You could winch the bike up a tree from it. The lower portion will bend in a get off, but can be bent right back.

I don't know what bags are in the package now, but mine were Cortech. Made in China, they were of fair quality but the zippers were poor. Had they been YKK the whole affair would have been just fine.

Right now they are still using Cortech, but it sounds like the YKK's deserve a look. Thanks Tom

No, YKK is a brand of zipper. The gold standard, IMHO. More gear is ruined by building it with crap zippers than from any other cause. All to save about $5.

The manufacturers lose many times that in goodwill.

It's a dark and stormy night, with a cold rain falling and the ambient temps are in the 40s. You stop to get something from the bag. The zipper is balky, so you have to remove your gloves. Your fingers turn blue and stiff. Then the damn zipper derails and jams and you're sitting there cold, wet, and achy, abusing your fingers as you try to close the thing up. A mere 20 minutes later you're on your way...

Figured that out after a google search. LOL. There's a lady I take my jackets too. With a little luck, maybe she can make it work.

They'll be OK for a year or so. Lube them with soap and maybe they'll be OK for longer.

I never met a Cortech bag owner who didn't curse the zippers...

+2 on crappy Cortech zippers...(one for each bag)

Maybe I'll just purchase the rack and go with a different brand of soft storage bags.
