Whats your best advice as a route to Bishop in the Spring from the SF Bay Area.

Tracy-Modesto-108 over the top, 395 ?
OR
hiway 50 all the way to 395 ?

My preferred route would be hwy 108, 120, 89 or hwy 4. When do you plan on leaving? Normally these passes aren't open until May sometimes as late as early June but this year it's been very dry and the passes were still open until last week. If it remains dry, the passes may open early but who knows? You can always check the Cal Trans web site prior to leaving to check on the passes and have Hwy 50 as a back up plan.
