For those of you who have the Motech bars, what are you using for highway pegs and how well do they work - I've been searched past postings but haven't seen anything clear.

I have the Black Master Grip pegs they sell for the crash guards. Work fine for me.

I have the previous version of the crash guard that connects at the foot peg locations, so I don't know if the highway peg position is changed with the newer style crash bars and whether that would impact how the highway pegs work.

I'll see about taking a couple of pics while I am out in the garage today and post them tonight. I am in the middle of rebuilding my brother's ATV engine so it will be later tonight.

Sw Hi-Way Pegs

Sorry, but I had these in my "extras" box. Posting pix, because they couldn't be easier to mount on the SW bars.

I saw that drilled plate earlier and wondered what it was for. I measured it against my inseam, and that position seemed much to high for me (I'm 6 ft.)

Can I ask what your riding position is? Are you way back on the seat in "highway position"? Maybe I'll throw them on a test drive to see if that position fits.

Since I have the the Motech bars and an aftermarket bash plate, I might have to whip up a crossbar from steel square tubing....

Thanks for the images. Bike looks dialed in.

OK here it is. This will answer both questions but you won't like it!
Pic 1) Factory un altered rear footpeg. Notice the weld joining the U to the plate. There is one just like it on the bottom. I cut through the welds to get just the U that the footpeg is attached to by the pin.

Pic 2) I welded the U with foot peg to the head of a 1/2" bolt to be bolted to the SWMotec mounting point. Like you I found the Motec points too close so I fabbed some extension plates to move the pegs forward and down.

Pic 3) view from the front showing the footpeg with the U welded to the bolt head then bolted to the extension plate.

This whole quick and dirty project was done in about an hour and a half the day I was leaving on a 5000km trip. Last minute I decided I couldn't live without highway pegs. That is why the finish quality is iffy! They worked great and the extension brackets can be bent to change the footpeg angle.

PS sorry for the late reply, I was working on my brother's ATV engine pictured on the bench....

Hiway pegs

Hi - I mounted a pair of Bike Master Buddy Motorcycle Foot Pegs (10mm) to my crash bars, and it took all of ten minutes. I supplemented the nut provided with a couple of rubber grommets and lock washers from the local hardware store, and they've been a real nice feature on the long rides.
