BRD redshift Electric SuperMoto launch party in San Francisco

I went to the BRD redshift Electric SuperMoto launch party in San Francisco tonight.

It's a home grown company of just a few guys and this is the prototype. They had about 300 people show up. Charlie Rauseo (Rally Pan Am) was there doing a piece on it for CityBike a local SF Monthly Motorcycle News Paper http://www.citybike.com/site/

They had the bike under wraps until the big unveiling.

When they finally did pull the cover off the bike was swarmed.

More of the place with a few more pics of stuff..

It was held at the Dainese store and there were lot's of cool bikes there.

They were also giving free food and wine -

Did I mention that there were lot's of cool bikes there -

That's a Suzuki DR800 - Very rare in the US.

watched it run

last friday Derek and crew ran the bike on the tarmac at the old Navy base in Alameda
about a block from where I work
no speedo on their bike so they asked me to follow behind to get a sense how fast it is
it pulls away from the KLR up to about 60 ~ 65 and then ran out of steam

theirs is 255 pounds and 40 horse (6.4 power to weight ratio)
mine is 400 pounds and 46 horse (8.7 power to weight ratio)

I recently rode the Zero Motorcycles electric bike.

Even at 320lbs it would pull me down the road at 70mph.....good brakes, decent power.....supposedly runs 60 miles on a charge.

I think the tech is ALMOST there.....if I could ride 120 to 150 miles on a charge.....Id own one of these in a second.
