No reason to hide... Build it !.

I think it's going to work out pretty good... for what I need anyway.

harbor freight is a great place to get some cheap tools but you certainly get what you pay for. i don't get too upset when my $5 harbor freight wrench breaks down, but when something like that hitch carrier breaks you risk your expensive bike and others' safety when your bike becomes a freeway missile!

hopefully it's a better product than some of their other crapola. if i see one of those traveling down the road in front of me i'm gonna be ready to get the hell outta the way!http://www.klrforum.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I agree Benny. HF is the first place I go if I need a prybar or something like that. If I need a drill or such, I'll go to one of the two pro tools stores in town. But I've had to have stuff on short notice or on a Sunday and have a couple of HF's more "sophisticated" items. They've performed as well and as long as some of the more desireable brands.

I think ya'll have read enough of my posts to know that I don't take a lot of chances with my stuff, particularly if it involves potential danger to others.

cool. hope it works well for you. after looking at it more closely i too am intrigued. i would love to hear what you think of it once you get it. i have a short bed on my truck and wouldn't be able to haul my bike without a trailer, and that seems like an easy solution if it holds up! good luck.

Why is a Shortbed a problem?

I have an f-150 supercrew that has a very short bed and have no problem getting two KLR's in it.

i have an 08 tacoma with 5' bed. if i keep the tailgate down and put the bike in crossways i think it'll fit (back wheel on the tailgate though, and i'm not crazy about all that weight on the tailgate for extended amount of time).

plus i have a topper on now and no good place to store it when i take it off, so some type of carrier looks more appealing.

I have a '93 S10 Extended cab that has a short bed and I can fit a V-Strom in it if it is at an angle.

OK guys. I've been OOT on a job. Made a quick stop at home last night and today. Carrier had arrived. Unboxed and took a look. More substantial than I expected. Put together mostly with bolts and rivets in the non-critical parts.

I should be back in a couple of weeks. I'll assemble and advise. From this quick look, I don't think there'll be any problem with the 250.

BTW, KT, I'm anxiously awaiting the 30rd 22mag.

Default Carrier

Well now that it's been a couple weeks, how did the carrier work out on the 250? I still think it's the way to go.

Back in '72 I tried one of those where you put the front tire in a chock type of system and run the rear tire on the pavement. That is a terrible way to drag a bike unless you are big on buying tires and take off the chain. Almost ruined a bike that way.
