Default Homemade crash bars and side case racks for my KLR

I made some homemade crash bars out of 1/2" pipe and put together some side case mounts with 3/4" square tubing and some 3/4" flat strap. I just wanted to get some opinions. It took me roughly 12-14 hours for both. I took advantage of the mounting points on my highway pegs. This made it a little bit easier, but the bends were a bit of a challenge. I have a couple more pictures I may post later.

Hey that looks very nice, and you get the pride of having made them yourself. Not to mention cost savings.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of my handy work. So far I have about $30 in materials. I'm just trying to see what kind of cases to mount to these to keep it a budget build. I ordered some 40mm ammo cans, but they were just too heavy. I'm trying to sell the ammo cases for what I paid for them which was $40. I'm thinking about a few other options for nice budget hard cases. Any ideas.....

Damn nice work! Hell, I think they're actually more aesthetically pleasing than my HT crash bars and most likely offer more protection. I'm impressed. You should be proud of both the crash bars and the rack system you made for the back.

Thanks! I appreciate it. It was definitely worth the time and effort. This is my 3rd KLR and I decided to go crazy and rig it up just the way I wanted it, of course on a budget. I think I'm ready for a good ride.

Very nice work, how did you bend the pipe so cleanly?
