Default Lowering front end

I just bought an '08 KLR. I like it so far, but since I'm a little vertically challenged, would prefer the bike a little lower. I bought lowering links, but the directions say I should lower the front end too. Do I need to lower the front? And if so, how do I do that?

You can try it without lowering first and see if you like it. If you decide to lower the front end, you simply loosen the triple tree clamps that hold the forks and slide the forks up about an inch max, retighten the clamps to 18 foot pounds. Your ready to go.

OK. Thanks for getting back so quick. I guess that sounds easy enough. I'll give it a try.

I should mention, it helps to have an atv jack that you can raise the bike up with to do either mod. If you loosen the triple trees with the weight of the bike on the forks, it'll drop too far, you need to adjust them without weight on them.
