Default My gear so far

I have gleaned a bunch of helpful information from this site and thought that I should post some stuff about the gear that I have accumulated at this point. Seemed easier (for me) to put it all in one post.

I have much less experience on a KLR than most here- only 6500 miles on a streetable bike- my 2009 KLR. But, here are my reviews for what they're worth:

Cortech Tri-Bag- pretty good system. fits the bike nicely and holds enough stuff for long rides. I like that the rear duffle removes easily. I have only been on one long ride and have had the duffle tear at the zipper seams and the zipper broke on one saddlebag. Cycle Gear was quick to replace, but the bags were pretty new. Bought a set of side racks from ebay to help mount bags properly. 7.5/10

Fieldsheer Adventure Jacket- excellent. Very high quality jacket and is great for cold to warm conditions. It is a heavy jacket and in extreme heat can be a bit much. Vents work well and it was my only jacket for a long time. Always warm & dry. Very durable. 10/10

Fieldsheer Congo Air Mesh Jacket- have only worn it once and got caught in heavy rain. It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. Rain liner worked well. Very comfortable. Snap broke before 1st use- easy repair though. So far- 8/10

Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants- Great pants. Very comfortable and roomy enough to wear over jeans. Long side zips are helpful with boots. Would buy again. 10/10

Metzeler Enduro Sahara These were a recommendation afer I expressed disappointment with the short life of the stock Dunlops. I have about 3500mi on the set and the rear is about 50%. Excellent on an off road. I was very surprised by mud performance. Would buy again. 10/10

Shoei Hornet DS helmet Not much to compare it to as I have only had dirt helmets. Very comfortable. Lots of vents. Seems to be well made. Expensive relative to others. Only two choices for shields. 9/10

That's all for now. Pretty happy with everything. This site has been a great resource for learning about the bike and making some informed purchases. Thanks!

Mark B (4) and I showed up at Dave's house for a four day trip to Oregon. All of us had the same saddlebags and top bag. Must be popular, eh.
