LED tail light

Has anyone used one of those "plug in" led tail lights? I am talking about the one you directly replace the oem bulb with. They are the round ones with the 1157 plug.
If so and if they work well where did you get them?
Are they a plug and play or do you have to do something else to the wiring.

thanks

Gary

I have tried two different ones from riderwearhouse and they did not work at all - the solder contacts were not positioned correctly relative to the bayonet lugs and when the bulbs were latched - no contact, no joy.

I have installed a BRAKE! modulated LED, purchased before the original company was under-cut and driven out of business by Studebaker, and it was essentially a plug-n-play install with a little sanding off of the lens mounting screw studs to account for the thickness of the lamp mounting bracket which is sandwiched between the lens and the housing. That unit works really, really well, and I like it a lot.

Takes nothing more than taking off your tail light cover, bulb, screwing adapter in, and placing the cover's screws through the holes on the LED kit.. Tighten and ride..

I've tried the simple plug replacement one that had several LED's in a small cluster but was disappointed, payed like $7 for the stupid thing. Then I went with the one that Paper displayed. I too had to wait awhile until they came in but it truely was simply to install and very happy withit.

I have a similar led taillight that I bought from a guy named Dean last winter. It's really bright and flashes 4 times quickly before coming on steady to alert drivers that your braking. It uses a special kind of led bulb that's supposed to be way brighter than normal led's, I believe their called Rebel led's? You can also shut off the pulsation feature with dip switches if you don't want it to flash. Price is reasonable too! Here's his ordering link

Here's a short youtube vid of it in action... Not a great video but it's way brighter than stock!

The site states these run $75! No thanks.

I run the one on Ebay and I paid something like $7.95 The one you list is much nicer, but what do you really need for a brake light?

I want people behind me to know I'm stopped or am stopping.. I know too many guys on bikes who have been rear ended..

Mine flashes for 2 seconds before going WAY brighter than a stock bulb.. Guys who ride with me have purchased the LED kit like mine because there's no mistaking what I'm doing.. After riding with others that have put the same kit in, I'm glad I ponied up the money..

That's why I did it.. If I had it all over to do again, I'd again spend the money..
