Newbie here, i have had a few KLR's and this is my......

4th but it was bought in pieces. I have a small issue that I hope the pros here can help me with. The bike is and 07 i got with no motor, I bought a motor via Ebay and I installed the motor. I have an issue with not having a neutral light and as soon as I let the the clutch out it shuts off. I have a pretty good idea that could be an issue cured as the neutral light is fixed. So, I have 3 wires that have no home, one is light green and it goes on the neutral sensor beside the front sprocket, another is solid black and the 3rd is black with yellow. All these wires come out of the stator cover. I have found 3 similar wires at the top of the harness, one exception would be the black with yellow is instead black with red. I'm going off memory as I'm not with the bike now. Either way, any help or photos of said areas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi. You didn't mention if you had a wiring diagram or not....here is a link to one.

Once you get your neutral switch issue straightened out, and the problem still exists, consider checking over the sidestand safety switch. This acts as an ignition interrupt, the clutch safety switch acting as a starter interrupt. The neutral switch's safety act is simply lighting up the dash indicator...it won't interfere with operation, should it fail.

In theory. I'd encourage you to get your neutral switch wiring worked out, and go from there.
