Rather than go off topic in my tool tube thread, thought I'd post these seperately
I did not make these racks - they were on the bike when I got them, but they do a great job of protecting the bike when dropped, for luggage and even transporting carton of beer on one side and bag of ice on the other

The only other mount to the bike is using the existing standard rack mounting point
This one piece box steel bar (half inch) goes from back corner of rack around bike and joins on opposite side.

With my proposed tool tube, it would be ideal to remove the helmet lock and also reposition the LHS mounting point for these racks so I can have the tool tube snug fitting to the frame, yet something else to think about......
