Supertrapp IDS2 Exhaust while Touring...

I've just bought a 06' KLR with a Supertrapp IDS2 Exhaust. I'm planning on a long trip this summer and am wondering if I should keep it on there or replace it with the stock?

It sounds good and all but, but I'm experienced with these type of things and would like to know if any one else has gone long distance (i.e.cross country) with this exhaust and how did it work out for you?

Thanks...

It sucked.

Once I had enough plates in it to properly match the intake mods it would wake the dead. I felt bad about riding it through neighborhoods. A buddy followed me in his truck down the freeway one time and said he could hear it 1/4 mile back.

When I took plates out to the point where the opening was about equal to the stock muffler and de-tuned to match, it was still pretty loud. Not 'pull me over and cite me' loud, but louder than I liked.

The packing it came with lasted about 30 hours, just like they said, and then it got louder. I tried a couple of different materials but it came down to repacking it every 25-30 hours.

It was a big disappointment because I'd had SuperTrapp products on a two-smoke back in the '80s and was quite happy.

My SuperTrapp is now up in the attic, where it belongs.

I wish I could be more positive, and I'm not really a 'gotta be whisper quiet muffler' guy or a noise fanatic. I just didn't have a good experience, and I tried hard.
