Front Wing V 3.1 -- as quiet as standing up

I took the windshield off my '01 within a few miles of getting it. Riding with nothing on the front is quieter than with the windshield, but I thought the fairing itself put turbulent air on my helmet. I have had a couple of deflectors up there and they worked OK.

I tried the new-design Parabellum windshield but had to have my chin over the gas cap to get anything but kicks to the helmet. When I took off the Parabellum I vowed to make a proper wing. I cut a piece out of an old metal shelf and started hitting it with a ball-peen hammer.

The pictures show V3.0 which oscillated in turbulent wind. I've added braces that go up from the fairing mounting bolts to the left and right windshield mount holes. Those short (11cm or 4.3") braces stop all the oscillation.

Interesting. So with this you get smooth air at helmet level?

So far I've tried no WS at all, stock WS, +4, and a homemade Madstad-like arrangement with a narrowed Goldwing shield. No WS at all is by far the quietest as my helmet is up in smooth airflow. But then I'm fighting air pressure on my chest/shoulders.

Yes. With this I get smooth air at helmet level. Even at the chin.

There IS air pressure on my chest and shoulders.
