Penny tech video mount

Well, I've seen several treads on helmet cams and ram moumt vidio cameras. So I scoped out the cost. It was a bit above my $10 budget however. So I set about making a way to mount my camera on the V-mav or KLR to shoot vidio. Most cameras now have a mounting hole on the bottom. I found a bolt that fit it and then set off the the hardware store. What I came up with is truely cheap but as the vidios I've shot with the v-max at 100+mph shows it works!

What I did is cut some inner tube from and old bike and wrapped it inside a U-clamp around the bar. I then took a spare metal bracket and bolted it to the near end of the clamp with washers and a nylon lock nut. On the far end of the bracket I attached the bolt thread up. I happened to have a rubber mount pad that also fit the bolt but you could use a wing nut and rubber gromet under the camera to lock it in place.

I'd attach a sample of the vidio I've shot but I don't know how. Hope this inspires others.

Now all I need is a copy of quicktime pro so I can edit the vidio.

Looks great. I've been thinking of something similar for my camera.
Oh, the video. You can download it to your photobucket (or like) account, then use the URL tag to put it in the post.
Hope that helps!

Sorry, tried downloading a short video but it wouldn't work. Nikon uses a weird format that so far I've only been able to play on quicktime. Unless I mave a movie out of the clip and then it gets chopped up into bits with fade ins and outs. I think I just need to add a video program to the Christmas list.
