Geocaching, GPS, Weekend rides

I don't know much about Geocaching but I want to learn, http://www.geocaching.com/about/ . Heck I want to buy a GPS and get started. I also thought it would be more fun to do this on a KLR. Do any of you have any experience with geocaching? This would be great to incorporate into some weekend rides. I can imagine the first cache would have a broken Doohickey along with some stripped float bowl bolts and a worn lower subframe bolt.

Now what do I need to know when buying a new GPS?

Sounds like fun to me. I've had a Garmin etrex vista for a few years but have never done geocaching before. Right before I bought the bike (a few weeks ago) I started to look into geocaching. Garmin makes a nice and simple handlebar mount for the etrex that works perfectly. Wal mart sells the etrex vista for about $180. I think I paid $200 for mine in 2002.

I have a Garmin eTrex Legend that I got on sale for $150. I too use the handle bar mount and like RaiderSix said, it works perfectly. My wife and I have also done some geocaching. It is a lot of fun and very easy to do. If you get the eTrex, then there is a free program on geocaching.com to upload the caches you want to visit to your GPS (it may work for other GPS's also, but I know it works great for the eTrex Legend) called EasyGPS. I haven't done geocaching from the bike yet, but I do plan to. I even helped the Lewis and Clark geocache makes its way back towards St. Louis. If I can be of any help let me know...Doug
