New gasket??

Getting ready to do the valves during tech day on 4 March in Peoria in addition to the doo.
Should I have a new valve cover gasket handy?

I don't think so. The gasket is what I call a "permanent or long term" item. Not like a case gasket. It's thick neopreme rubber type material and most users just clean it off and maybe put some silicone on it if I recall correctly. Mine was 15 years old when I checked it myself. Still going strong today with no leaks. There is no record of it ever being replaced at anytime either.

+1 what X6 said. with only moderate care, you can remove the cover without damaging the gasket. i thought it was easier to get off than back on.

If you want to be absolutely sure you don't need a new gasket, buy a new gasket. :lol:

At 3 years old, mine came off and went back on perfectly, and I bucked the odds and didn't have a spare gasket.. :shock:
