Road Demon?

Has anyone street fought a klr 650? or planned on trying it? A few questions, i have a ktm rear 18" rim that is 36 hole--what spoke kit can i buy to lace it up? also will dropping the forks provide better or more stable handling? Also has anyone completely did away with the front headlight assembly. my goal is to make a road rocket out of this bike and nothing more, it will never see dirt as i have a rm 250 for that. here are my plans let me know you opinions

pipe
jet kit
18" front wheel with wider rubber up front (something like a kenda k761)
kenda k761 130 out back
dropped forks
pro taper bars
remove front assembly and replace with buell or any double style headlight

to street fight the traffic!

Fought?? Well, when it gets to the tight, twisty stuff I leave my sportbike riding buddys in the dust when I'm riding my KLR. Other than Progressive fork springs and rear shock, and Michelin Anakee tires, it's pretty much stock.

I ride at 65-70, and when they're decelerating for corners, I just set up and power through them. After a few miles of curvy roads I will sometimes wait minutes at a stop sign before they arrive.

If I do the same road with a bike with actual power, the time is only slightly less. Momentum is the key.

Street fighter? I've said it before. If you want a fast bike, buy a fast bike. You're going to spend a great deal of time and money to make a KLR go faster, only to find out that it's still slower than a stock bike that cost the same. It's not the bike to make a street fighter out of. Just buy something faster in the first place.

Im pretty much just going for the looks and handling. My buddies on gsxr's and sv's will smoke me in the straights and i dont care cause i would get one of those, but they are uncomfortable and i dont need to go that blindingly fast on the street. Im just trying to slim down the looks of this new tank i bought.

Gotcha.. Yeah, you're right on the straight line speed, but the KLR's a ton of fun in the corners.

Funny you're calling it a tank. I call mine a mule.. I just keep putting more and more stuff on it when I go camping on it. Speaking of that, here's my Saturday night campsite.

I've got a tire you might want to help smoke the squids in the corners.
