Klr serial number code?

Looking at buying a 2006 to go with my 2007. Is there a digit in the vin number that indicates the year ?

Also, how do you check wheel bearings to be sure the creek water hasn't gotten in?
Thanks

The tenth digit in the VIN number is the year code. For a 2006 should be 6.

Only way to check wheel bearing is to remove the wheels. If you have a hard time removing the axles that may indicate some water related issues.
