Help locating replacement rear fender bolts

I'm running through the small bits of my new KLR here in the high mountains with plenty of time to poke around. I plan to make a journal post when I get the time to throw together some photos, but have a few small things I've been exploring in my short evenings off.

My rear fender is really sloppy and only attached on a pivot point with the luggage rack shields. It appears there are bolts missing that secure the back of the fender to the subframe, next to the stock toolkit area. Any ideas on what size/kind of bolt to try to mount here?

Thanks,

SJR

(Will try to post a pic this evening, can't figure it out right now)

15-post history required to post images on this website, I think.

Modest proposal: Look up exploded parts diagram fiche for your bike (e.g., at Kawasaki.com or BikeBandit); the accompanying parts list often contains clues to the diameter and pitch of each fastener involved, sometimes length also.

Somebody might know off the top of their heads or look it up for you but you can find any part by looking in the fiche at www.cheapcycleparts.com or www.ronayers.com. They both are great resources for finding OEM parts or just seeing exploded views of systems.
Keep one or both on your favorites list !!

As a side gossip point, (and to increase post count) where do you ski bum, Brian? I fancy myself a working class bum these days, but have piled on many 100+ day seasons in the past. Excited for the prospect of motorbike assisted spring touring...

Wish I'd said that!

Believe it or not, I grew up right down the road from you in Durango and skied at Purgatory which I hear they now call Durango Mtn. I now ski (well, not THIS year, no snow) at Mt. Shasta where I am a volunteer National Ski Patrol. I sure wish it would snow here.. Ever get to Purgatory bomb Catharsis for me, or ski the Plunge at Telluride!

SanJuanRider, if you wish to bolster your post count, QUOTE this post in your reply!

I previously suggested the Kawasaki and BikeBandit websites as sources for replacement parts images and nomenclature; others exist, as posted above.

The Kawasaki fiches SHOULD be the most authentic and accurate; "View Parts Diagrams" at http://www.kawasaki.com . The factory parts lists often contain the clues mentioned regarding fastener diameter, pitch, and sometimes, length. The retail vendors don't always include that information, although the exploded parts diagrams appear universally shared.

Best wishes on your progress toward image posting authorization; if you have an urgent need to post a picture before you qualify, PM me, we'll exchange e-mail addresses, and I'll post the images for you.

There are 2 - 6x32 mm flanged bolts that go through the carrier and fender before attaching to frame.

If you need a picture posted PM me the link (Photobucket or such) and I'll add it.
