odyssey battery

Just bought an odyssey battery and have installed it on the ole beast. It sits upright and I had to put the neg up and positive on the bottom. Now the existing cover does not fit to hold the battery in place.Has anyone moded a new cover or bracket to hold this battery in place?I have wired directly to the positive terminal a lead to a compressor plug and a charging system to our chatter boxes.I now think I may just have to wire to a spare fuse box to clean up the terminals for a cover.Anyone got any pics

Thanks,

Mike

OK Honey, you just need to remove the thing-a-ma-jig to make room for the watchamacallit---then adjust the dumaflotchie and wire around the whatsit, move over the thingamabob so the jerryrigged battery fits-I have included a pic of the wiring when finished----you need anything else--just yell

Yes Mike I had the same problem when I changed batteries. I took a peice of tin and bent it to fit in a vice. Not too many people ever notice it isn't the stock cover.(or at least not many remark on it)

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

After reading these posts I am glad I did not buy the odyssey battery . I bought a sealed battery from schnitz racing.

I took a heat gun to the stock cover and bent it a bit to fit over the Odyssey battery. Then I added an aluminum strap from the top frame bar down to the bolt that holds the batter cover on. That added strap really snugs the heavy battery in place.

Everything is adaptable. You'll find a solution that works for you. Don't be afraid to modify things.

I've had my Odyssey battery in there for four years and it's been drained dead a few times along the way. Still, it takes and holds a charge well and has all the cranking power anyone would ever need.

No regrets from me.
