Clutches on klr 650

How long do they last when I went out this morning it felt like it slipped for a lil bit! I adj play in lever and can't duplicate but 4000 miles is way under clutch isn't it? I hope? Been getting average of 50 mpg on both tanks and has shown no other signs! Using correct motorcycle oil for it to.

Clutches last for years if you treat them right. No way yours should be bad. Maybe the adjustment did the trick.

My Kaw Barn - 2004 KLR, 2006 Concours (sold), 1997 Bayou 400.

"It's a friggen motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you shit your pants every now and then. "

Mtgrizzlymn,
I have got over 70,000 mile on my original 1987 -A1 clutch.
If your clutch does not immediately 'release' in the morning, try this.

Start the bike. Let warm up 2-3 minutes.
Squeeze the clutch lever and HOLD IT.
'Blip' the throttle 3 times. idle to 3000 RPM.
LET it RETURN to Idle.
'Snick' it into gear. With-out a lurch.
Common practice with a 'WET' Clutch.
