Led headlight with fairing

My son crashed his KLR and broke the headlight fairing. A new one is $106 and a used on is $100 on ebay. We have been looking an LED light with fairing on ebay for about $45. The listing says it is universal and will fit a KLR and is held on with rubber attachments. Has anyone tried something similar to this on their KLR? If so what is your assessment?

Thanks

In my opinion universal fit usually means you're having to do something to make it work. After that you go and buy the correct OEM parts.

I doubt that the LED headlight will be any good in the dark. I am under the impression from my info that LED headlights aren't quite there yet and if they are I doubt they would be at that price point.

I suspected that to be the case. I was hoping for better though. Thanks.

You are right about the price point. I had a BMW R1200GS with a LED head light. It was as good as the normal headlight but the cost of the part if it was broken was $1200.00. There are several H7 LED units available but since the KLR uses a spacer they may not work.

That link shows a $99 headlight..

LED technology improves everyday. Right now there are quite a few options for an H4 LED headlight,

One thing I've heard about LED headlights is that while they are much brighter on clear nights, in fog or heavy rain the reflection from the light makes them less effective.
I still haven't read a review of the H4 LED bulb in the KLR headlight.
