Rear Carry Rack

Looking for an rear rack that adds additional width to the existing tail rack.

Hope to get something that will give me the extra width, 4 or 5 inches on each side.

Is anyone aware of a site I can order one through ?

Your help is appreciated

I'm not sure --are you looking for something like this?? I have this rack on my bike and like it alot--great for strapping a duffel bag across and I have put my fishing pole across it too-adds several inches to your width back there...I took th estock one off and this ones screws down into the same holes if I remember right...

Hey Thanks,

It looks good, however I am looking for something that will allow me to mount a GIVI Box as well. See my photos for cuirrent ride.

I need the flexibilty to go from what I call easy riding with the GIVI Box on, to off roading into the deep back woods, without worrying about having the Givi trashed on a rough ride.

Good thought and I will keep it in mind

Thanks again

I made one out of that lite angle slotted angle bracing availabe in hardware
store. The bottom is expanded mesh. It bolts to the original 6 holes in the
OE rack, but requires longer bolts. It is 11 1/2" X 20" but could be made
larger. Those slots and holes are really handy for bungees and nets. I also build a larger rack made out of a screen door grate to go on the mesh one. Haven't needed that one yet. Will send a pic if interested.
Is it spring yet??

I have seen a few make a wider rack base out of a cutting board from a dollar store. Cut it the way you want, paint it black and there you go. You take the existing rack off and mark your holes. Buy some longer bolts to go thru the cutting board down into the oem threaded holes. The givi rack base should be able to be mounted in similar fashion to what you have now. Not sure if this is what your looking for, but just came to mind when I read your thread.

Good idea,

I guess, what I am trying to accomplish, is having the best of both worlds.

The Givi box is great to have on the back, however when not in use, I would like to have a rack, large enough to carry soft luggage. Tent, fishing gear etc.

To resolve this small problem, I could simply go out an buy another KLR, you know, one for Sunday drives, the other for taken in out and gettin down and dirty.

I am still open to suggestions, there is still 2 1/2 months of winter here before I have to decide on something.

How about just getting a wolfman ALPHA bag? Carries more than the givi and will hold a tent and sleeping bag... This will be one of my next purchases soon as I get my tax returns in.

I have checked the Wolfman Web Site in the past, saved the link from a previous thread and their luggage looks fantastic. A little expensive to swallow at first, however I am sure it will withstand whatever I can throw at it.

Big question, are they waterproof ? It's not that big of a deal, I guess, as I have become accustomed to packing everything I own into zip lock freezer bags.

My first trip planned this year will take us over an area of North Western Ontario, covering about 400 miles of gravel loging roads and trails, so without a doubt there will be rain, mud, dust and so on..... so I need to take some creature comforts along with the essentials to survive a week of this. Thus, looking for the best tail rack, bag etc.

Thanks again for the suggestion/recommendation
