Radiator protector plate

This might have been in Simple, Cheap & Easy because the piece of aluminum was cut from an old snow shovel. I was looking for a strip of aluminum and spotted the piece with raised spine which makes it a bit more ridgid.

1-1/2" x 10-1/2" flat stock glued to the side of the radiator by silicone gasket maker. It is sized to fit between the flanges on the upper & lower radiator tanks. Just some additional piece of mind for a few cents.

The pipe insulation foam seem pushed forward was moved for the install of the plate. It is wedged between the radiator and fairing side shroud to reduce air loss past the radiator + pad the rad in case of a crash.

Honestly, Normk; posting images isn't really difficult. A free image hosting site (e.g., the free Photobucket version) is all you need; I imagine an image can be posted directly from your "dropbox" account:

Thanks for repeating the images. As I said, I can't get direct linking to work after putting more time to the issue than I cared to do. If the posting of links bothers others then I can stop posting links to images but for now I'm not spending any more time on what seems a dead end. At some point these things always become more trouble than one has enthusiasm to apply. If I keep at the same thing long enough I will simply chuck the whole thing out of frustration.

I've used friends' descriptions and searched on line but all which appears is a link.

Hope I don't sound testy as I'm not but know if I keep flying at this porch light without resolution, I will become too frustrated.

If someone has interest to offer suggestions as to what might work by PM, I'd be open. I've copied links from DropBox file on my hard drive; copied from DropBox on line; and tried using the other DropBox options.

I think you need to convert your image to an "IMG" file at some point; PhotoBucket will provide an IMG file link when asked (fourth "share" option for an image file); don't know about DropBox.

Just a question: If DropBox cannot be used to host images for posting on the website, what use do you make of the program?

I tried PhotoBucket but had problems with that...not enough capacity without buying space or something but don't recall now.

I'm not prepared to buy web space to store images to post for other people. At some point one's altruism reaches the limit.

This is becoming too much of a time waster. I'll just stop posting this stuff if it bothers others. I'm simply trying to contribute things I think might benefit someone.

I only got into PhotoBucket in order to accommodate linking photos to this group because someone suggested that it would work. I have no other use for it as use a network drive and off site storage.

I don't see any conversion to .imag on the DropBox site or through my hard drive's DropBox files.

Don't stop posting images, by link or whatever means you might have, Normk!

Thought it might be more convenient for readers if I posted some of your images directly; thought it might be more convenient for you to put 'em up that way. You've convinced me; the latter's not in the cards. I'll shut my keyboard on the subject, further.

You're no chasing me off as I read your efforts as encouragement so if you have some step by step, PM as I'd be grateful to do it if it's easy.

I owe you pie and coffee for helping by repeating the links with images.

Very much appreciated and totally in character for your thorough and positive presence here. Hope there is no misunderstanding.

Norm -

I, thinking "It can't be that hard!" signed up for a DropBox account.

Supposedly you are able to get a link by right clicking on the file in the DropBox folder and clicking on "Share DropBox Link"

I tried it with this image:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/e9dbkd79dyve9p1/map.jpg

by doing this:

[im g]https://www.dropbox.com/s/e9dbkd79dyve9p1/map.jpg[/img]

Which gives me this:

It doesn't seem to be possible with DropBox. I'm pretty good at figuring these things out and I'm stumped.

Searching, I found this: http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/foru...5/#post2273583 , but DropBox doesn't seem to behave that way. It may have back in 2011. Perhaps there's a DropBox user who has figured it out who can help here.

Did this work?

Nope.

Here's what I did:

I tried to clone the PhotoBucket link; no dice.

PhotoBucket has a menu, upper right of the screen, when an image is designated and displayed, "LINKS TO SHARE THIS PHOTO;" the fourth one down, "[IMG]," will be copied when the cursor is clicked on it, and it can then be posted in the thread, resulting in an image appearing directly in the post.

If this can be done with dropbox, the process is elusive to me.

I've asked before; what is dropbox used for (given images cannot be posted to a website from this program)? Just wondering.

No image. That looks like something I tried unsuccessfully.
