Tension spring

Hi, My KLR ( 2001 ) has 18+ K miles and I did the doohickey and tension spring upgrade @ 2K. I'm planning a Colorado trip this summer from Massachusetts and I would like to see the tension spring while making an adjustment. I know there is a mod for a site glass BUT my ? is if I take JUST the outside cover off will I be able to see the spring ???????????
I want to see that all is ok and there is still some spring left in the spring. I don't want to pull the rotor or the inner cover, If I have to go through all that to see the spring, I'll might as well do the site glass mod .
Thanks in advance for all replies

I am pretty sure the large starter gear behind the Rotor is going to keep you from seeing much of anything. I would like to hear more about this site glass, this is first time info for me on that. Sorry am not much more help Gary.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

PM sent Gary...

I see you upgraded, EagleMike kit right?

You shouldnt have an issue. I got 26,000 on mine and just adjusted it. after the install at 7,800 miles. It worked like a charm, just loosen the bolt a turn and a half. tap the case with a mallet. tighten it back up 55-60 INCH pounds. and your good to go, I'm sure you'll notice the sewing machine hum again.

Sounds good , I'm not having any problems and I do adjust it every 3 k miles but with a long trip this summer and if all I had to do was take the outer cover off it would be worth it to see that the spring still had some adjustment left in it. I installed a 37mm spring, the stock one is a 40mm.
Has anybody you know of ever had to change there spring AFTER doing an upgrade ????

Not that I know of? I had mine apart at 26,000 doing other engine repairs and it had plenty of tension left..I wouldn't worry about it until at least 40,000 miles.
