Works Shock

Hello everyone, I just bought an new EBC 320mm front rotor and steel braided line, some new Avon Gripsters and am thinking of going to a works performance shock. I am thinking of getting it tuned to my weight plus 100 lbs of gear. Has anyone had experience with works? How was working with them?? Were you satisfied with what you got? -Breck-

I put a Works Performance on my old 1986 BMW R65 and it was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! They have a lever on them that you flip to instantly make it set for 2 up or loaded riding, and then flip it back for just regular single riding..

I wish I had spent the extra money to get a Works shock, rather than the Progressive I currently have. Much better piece of equipment.

I ended up selling the shock with the bike, to a friend and he and his wife both love riding the bike because of the shock. After 4-5 years and around 35-40K, it's just now getting to the point where it's in need of a rebuild..

Great shock!!

I had a Works on my Seca 650 back in the late 80s. I loved it. It also had the ARS setup with a main spring and a short & more compliant spring on top with a collar that allowed you to bypass or incorporate the top spring. I don't think the Works shock for the KLR has the ARS setup. Looking at their application guide, they have a remote reservior damper with rebound adjustment.

If you ever decide to replace the Progressive shock, look into the Cogent Moab shock (adjustable only for preload and rebound; no compression adjustment; like the Works, it is custom built for each customer). It is cheaper than the Works, even if you get the Works shock without rebound adjustment. The Cogent shock works. I suspect it is at least comparable to the Works shock, if not better.

You can find info on the Cogent Moab shock at: http://www.motocd.com/

Thanks Guys, I think I might make this mod. I would like a little stiffer ride for off road and adjustability for when loaded with gear. I will keep ya posted. -Breck-
