Doohickey pre-disaster

Yesterday I opened up my 2006 KLR to do the doohickey thing. I found a lot of bolts including the flywheel bolt not torqued at all. I installed the puller bolt and without turning it the flywheel fell off in my hand. I only found 2 bolts that were tight during this whole change over. Makes me kind of nervous on what else inside this beast is loose. Kawasaki needs to use a couple of rear view mirrors to pull their heads out of their asses on this. I have 3800 miles on the bike and all looked well with the doohickey. Also installed AVON Distanzia tires on the bike and love the ride they give.

Sounds like you opened it up just in time!!
I'd give it a good once over before putting it back together..

Is a lil bit similar to my 07. We pulled it apart to do the doo, I put the puller bolt in by hand and the flywheel pulled right off with no effort what so ever. Everything seemed fine but we double checked it all. Good thing you caught it.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

Having that come loose would really suck.
I've always ran into it being really tight...like almost stripping the puller threads.

I dont think one of the 30 or so bikes I've been around have been loose either.
