I need to replace the headstock bearings on my gen1 KLR650 so I've ordered a taper bearing kit but I'm getting a little confused about the fitting:
Firstly the bearing kit has been supplied with two oil seals, one I can see is for under the lower headstock bearing and I'm guessing that the other goes on top of the upper bearing - is this supposed to fit into the big cap nut (that tightens down with a hook spanner) the outer part of it looks like a plastic casting with a rubber seal pressed into it?
Also, the lower bearing oil seal has a lip to it, meaning I could fit it under the lower bearing so that it either cups up around the bottom of the bearing, or down towards the lower triple clamp, can anyone tell me which way up it goes?
Or, would anyone have any photos or video of the process that would let me see the correct fitment order?
Sorry for the daft questions, I'm usually ok working on my bikes but this will be my first time doing headstock bearings so I'm a little concerned about getting it right.
