Replacement Battery for an '87 KLR 650...

Hi there,

I've been trying to get some info on this and it's seemingly kind of tough to come by online (I just ordered the Haynes manual since the bike came with nothing when I picked it up)

I've read a bit about installing a "maintenance free" (MF) battery, which sounds a lot more like my speed versus checking on water levels and what not after I accidentally left a light on somehow (could have sworn I checked to make sure everything was off) and I accidentally drained the battery.

Is this an easy swap over? If so, is there a particular battery I should go for? I am a total newbie when it comes to motorcycles, so I'm just trying to figure out what is going to be simplest and low if not no maintenance path. Thanks in advance for the help!

Batteriesplus, not Wal-Mart, is the place to go!

OK, I checked all my local Wal-Mart stores, and all have stopped carrying motorcycle batteries.

But I went to batteriesplus.com and checked their store locator, and found they have a retail store near me. On the web site, there is also a printable 10%-off coupon, good until 3/31, for any in-stock item.

They have a sealed maintenance-free battery (1-year warranty) for $69.95 that is a drop-in fit for my KLR. I called to verify that the store accepted the coupon, so my final price should be $62.96 plus tax for the maintenance-free sealed battery! I'll pick it up after work today.
