Doohicky 1/2 done...

Intact and the spring was good...tension was about right on. Small scar on the doohicky where the bolt was.

I am doing the MSM mod to the inner cover so I can check the spring tension easily from now on and will put it back together tomorrow...piece of cake so far.

Then I am doing the oil screen and changing the coolant.

Might adjust the valves...they were good at 4k, so not sure I need to.

Outstanding.... Been thinking of doing the mod to check the spring myself. Might be something to do this winter during down time. The oil screen isn't a big deal. To help you out a little bit, and keep from making my mistake, the clutch rod, the piece that the cable attaches too at the engine side case needs to be completely pulled up and out before you try to remove the side cover. We thought it would come off with the cover...I won't... Turn it about 1/4 or 1/2 turn and it will disengage from the clutch button. Other than that, it was a very simple operation. Mine screen was about 1/3 full of junk.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

done... For now

Ran out of time to do the oil screen, but the Doohicky is history.

No leaks so far - sitting in the Garage in a dry clean spot with the bash plate off...

button her up tomorrow.

Gonna do the oil screen next oil change - 9-10 weeks?
