Turbo City Windshield!!

Ok, I just bought the TC windshield from newenough.com!!! Here's a link to it!!! http://www.newenoughhp.com/parts/dua..._kawasaki.html

I read that these are really nice screens. It installs over the fairing and stock windscreen so you can take it off if you want. I probably wont, but some take it off while they are in the dirt. I also read that some are drilling additional holes to make the screen adjustable. I think that is a great idea. I will get plugs to plug the holes that are not in use. I figure this would be a cheaper route to go!! The other adjustable screen I was looking at would have cost $420 bucks and I would have to change the whole fairing!!

I will write a review once I get it and ride both dirt and street!!!!!

Oh, and don't nobody tell me it's crap and burst my bubble!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now thats an intersting concept in a windshield, but think I will stick with my cut down stock one. I am interested in your results and likes and dislikes. Keep us posted..

Hehehe, I forgot about this thread!! I happened upon it when someone asked me about my windshield!! LOL

Well, here is the review!!

It is an ok windshield. I get buffeting and some wind noise about forhead level. I am 5'9". The shield would probably be great if it was about an inch or 2 taller. I am going to drill new holes and move it up as far as I can! If that doesn't work, I will either buy a whole new set up, or maybe try to find a laminar lip that will work with this windshield. I emailed Laminar and they said that because it is aftermarket, they wouldn't be able to help me. I figure I will just look at different lips and find one that looks like it would fit!!

The mounting is ok. The only thing I have a problem with is one side seems to hit the fairing. I tried (not to hard though) readjusting it, but it still hits. I guess I will need to loosen things up more and try again. Now that winter is here I will be more inclined to tear into it!!! Because of this, I get some rattle noises. I tried putting two way foam tape between the bar and the fairing, but it only worked for a little while!

Other then those two things, it isn't that bad. Would I buy it again, well, if it was and inch or 2 taller, yes. Knowing what I do now though, I wouldn't have gotten it, I would have got and even taller one. Sure wish we could test stuff out before buying!!!!

That is what I am going to try to do. I am just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. I figure the warmer the shield is, the less likely for it to crack while drilling!!! Also need to go buy some new drill bits. I want to make sure they are nice and sharp!!

I will let everyone know how it goes, once I do it. Will also take pics of the finished product!! I'm thinking I will drill holes to lower the shield too!

Kick around the thought of trying running without a windshield.. I found the stock shield tossed wind right at my helmet, eyeball height.. Tons of turbulance, noise, and tossing my head around... For grins and giggles I took the shield off and rode for a day..

The result was a wind that was quiet for my helmet, but I had a bit of a blast to my upper chest.. I cut the "flip" off the top of the stock screen and never looked back!! Wind hits at my neck, keeping the blast off my chest, but my helmet's in clean air..

Give it a shot.. And since you're just taking the stock screen off, it's FREE!!!

I've run my KLR like this for 3 years, and most of my riding buddies have done the same to their shield and love the results, too.

hey paper, can you let us know your stats, heigh and inseam. Your situation sounds similar to mine and if we are close in heigh I may try this.

I'm 6' tall, with a fairly long torso. 32" inseam, and tall shirts are more comfortable than regular.

Like I said, pull the stock shield off, and see if you like it.
