This KLR that I am working on needs fork seals. I have looked at the how to on here about replacing them and know I can do that. The only thing I am not sure of is the weight oil I should use. This is for a 240lb rider. Can some give me a clue about what would be the correct weight oil?

I'm 200 and I keep using bel-ray 10wt which I believe has the recomemended characteristics. I don't really do much off road so I doubt I personally need anything different.

A thinner oil will feel softer (compress more easily) and rebound more quickly, so it really depends a lot on what you use the bike for and what type of response you want from your suspension.

You could probably try something different during your rebuild. If you decided you didn't like it, you could probably change oil without pulling them off again. I haven't done it that way yet myself but I ill try it next time.

Kawasaki's spec is 10wt, 188 -192 mm from top.
