battery cover

I want to fabricate a replacement battery cover. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? I probably just want want a stock replacement like cover. The PO got an odyssey battery and pitched the cover. I just want to cover up the battery so it doesn't show. It's easily accessible and I'd like it to be less obvious.

edit: I still have the metal door that bolts on.

Are you referencing the "L" shaped black plastic cover which runs along the top of the battery and down the left side? The one with the raised "dowel" area which the 6mm bolt secures?

If that one and you're wanting to hide the battery, a piece of rubber mud flap works, an old scuba fin (we don't call them "flippers") or some 1/8" Lexan have all worked for me on various bikes. People often toss the covers, then find the battery is rattling around which is bad for battery life. Lexan can be obtained in various colors from the scrap bin of a local glass shop. They'll often give you a bunch as it saves on their garbage space. Lexan is better than Plexiglass as it can be cold bent like aluminum. HIH
