Play in the clutch lever

Hey fellas
been riding my 05 KLR for about a month now, and I noticed a little bit of play in the clutch lever before it engages...it is just a little bit, but enough to be noticible. It has been there since I picked it up last month. The clutch has no problem engaging, and it is consistently like that when it is cold or hot. Is a little bit of play normal? Let me know if there should be any, and if so, how much. Thanks!

You should have 2-3 mm of play in the lever. Sounds like you are fine. If it does not have some slack the clutch springs might not engage completely and you would have some clutch slippage you were not aware of. :)

Oh about like this... [..] .. give or take a bit. :) you just simply want some gap between the lever and the bracket as you pull the lever to disengage the clutch. At worst find a ruler with mm increments on one half.
