Yet another Clutch Question!!!

Ok, I have read the threads about disabling or putting in a toggle switch to overide the clutch safety switch! Problem is I don't want to do those things!! LOL

My bike only starts with the clutch in the "out" position. What I want it to do, is start when the clutch is pulled in!! I want to beable to have it in gear when I start it! So if I accidently kill it at a light, I won't have to hurry up and find nutrual and have the clutch out to restart it!

Is it possible to adjust the safety switch to allow me to start the bike with clutch pulled in???? If not, I will have to overide the switch!! I always pull my clutch in before I start my other bikes, and this get's fustrating when my KLR wont turn over!!! LOL

Thanks
Kim

Strange. Starting in the out position, in gear, is totally contrary to the theory and intent of the safety switch system. Mis-wired somewhere I guess.

No, it isn't starting in gear! LOL That would be a major problem if it did that! It has to be in nutrual with the clutch out, for it to start!! I want it to start with the clutch in, either in gear or not!

OK. That's the way mine (and I guess all the "modern" bikes I've owned) are set up. And my preference.

edit - I should have said "the ABILITY to start in gear in the out position...."

My ST1300 will start in gear with clutch pulled in as long as the kickstand is up! It will start in neutral with clutch pulled in or out with kickstand down! So if I gewf and kill it at a light, all I have to do is pull in the clutch start the bike and off I go! I like that!!!

My scooter only starts with brake pulled in!!!!!!!!! LOL

As far as I know, all you can do is by-pass that switch, why not just do it since that is the way you want it to be?

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.
