Letter to Kawasaki RE: Doohickey

Why dont we compile a list of Klr owners who have had problems with there Doo's and also add as many owners who feel replacement of this part is essential to that list and send it to Kawasaki suggesting a recall and upgrade of this crappy part, why should we be losing sleep and money replacing what Kawasaki should have already done long ago.

2008 DL650 VStrom Yellow and Black
Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

I think Yamaha did the same thing years ago with the XS750 triple and it's dreaded gearbox problems... i think if people give up trying to get them to admit there is { was } a problem then they ain't gonna bother with a recall . It's strange they admitted to the exhaust bolt fiasco........
I hope it doesn't take an accident for them to do anything, i wonder if it has already caused an accident or two ????

I think someone said it right a while back. It's clear that the part has issues, nobody can deny that. The question becomes a matter of quantity. It appears the issue is a massive one on these forums because so many people that are on here have had issues with the part. People who have this part fail are also more likely to get online and seek out information about it. These forums only represent a small quantity of the total sales of KLRs. If you sell 100,000 KLR's, and have 5,000 of those people complaining, well that's pretty insignificant to warrant a recall of 100,000 bikes. Considering there are only 2214 members on this forum, then there clearly cannot be more then that complaining on here. Take the other KLR forums and remove any duplicate members and factor them in. Even so, we know 100,000 bikes is a far cry from their real numbers. Would be interesting to know some solid sales figures and solid complaint figures, but I suspect we'll never know either.

Re: the Doo

Yes your right, it does come down to how many people make enough noise and how many Klr sales there have been, and how many doo failures as well.
There has to be someway of getting the sales figures .......
