Feedback/experience with the Ebay side cover guards?

Anyone have experience good or bad with these alternatives to the Happy Trails versions? I just want to be able to use soft saddle bags.

Thanks,

These are them:

They look like their built quite well. Pretty much identical to OEM. You're not going to have enough weight in the soft bags to cause them to bend. I would say they would be fine. The seller's feedback rating looks great, I doubt you would have a bad experience.

2008 DL650 VStrom Yellow and Black
Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

I notice both they and Happy Trails boast mig welding, like that's a good thing. Does no one know how to tig weld any more?

I tig weld stuff all the time, though I can only do it on stainless and carbon steel. The only thing you gain through TIG welding or stick welding is better penitration of the parent material. On the thin stuff that goes on our bikes that's not a problem anyway.

I have these side racks on my 08, and they do a great job of protecting the side fairing from the soft saddle bags and they provide extra tie-down options for the side bags. Some fall down protection for the side plastic.

I baught these back in Dec. and didnt get around to trying to install them untill May. The right side fit perfectly but left side did not. The hole tabs were in the right place but the angles were off and the bolt threads would not start. I emailed the seller and explained and even after 5 months he shipped me out a new one. Fit perfect and seem to be very well built and I like the way they look. I would recomend them.
