Speedo stuck - Kawasaki KLR 650 Forum

Speedo stuck

After a spill my speedo is stuck at 40 KM/H.
Odo and trip meters work.
What gives? can I fix this easy?

Check the speedo cable at the wheel first. I bet it's damaged.

94 KLR,tank guards,sw motech centerstand,Doo done, african switch,mirror dampners, powerpegz, twisted throttle fuses, aluminum skidplate, Bigcee shark disc and jug holder and subframe upgrade, progrip grips,maier handguards/brushguards, avon distanzias,fmf q4 exhaust, headlight guard, handlebar risers, billet rear brake reservoir bracket and guard, dual star shifter,garmin 2820 gps, tmod,disc cover, pcv mod,corbin flat

But . . . the odometer and trip meter work, suggesting an operational cable drive.

Speedometer head innards zonked, I'd imagine. Won't hurt to look in there and see what, if anything, might be done. Next step (without corrective maintenance success), professional help (speedometer specialists exist), or replacement search, I'd think.

Happy to try to help. Sometimes old speedos just stick and can be freed up.

Yea!! That could work!! I have tried worse ideas to fix things...
