Signals do not work

I have a 1989 650. None of the signals work. The headlight(low/high beam), taillight, brake light, and horn all work fine. I've done alot of looking. I took apart the rocker switch at the handle bar and cleaned off the contacts. Checked the fuses above the battery and they are fine. When I would push the signal switch right or left I could hear a click down under the gas tank. I found a relay there that would click once if I turned the signal switch either left or right. The signal lights do not come on or blink. I checked all four bulbs for the signals and they're good. The little bulb by the speedometer is good also. The high beam and neutral light by the speedometer work good. I haven't done anything to the electric system. Any ideas are appreciated.

Tap the turn signal flasher to see if it is sticking.

Or just replace it. I haven't checked, but it can probably be replaced by a generic from an auto parts store.

Do the signal lights come on, and just not blink?, or are they not coming on at all. If they aren't coming on at all, its a different problem than the blinker unit. Might be a wire grounding on the frame somewhere.

Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.
