I have 11,825 miles on my '89 KLR. That doesn't seem like a lot of miles but I'm almost out of clutch. It's adjusted all the way out and I only have about half of the lever left before it engages. What did you all get out of yours?

I am considering buying the clutch kit from klr650.com but the one and only time I ordered from them it took three weeks and I didn't get all my parts, although I DID get charged for them all.

I think I replaced mine at 14,000 mi. I got my plates from a local source and had HolyCaveman help me install them. Worst part was getting the water pump off without tearing the gasket.

So I need to order a water pump gasket.

Never did this before, this is why I asked.

Got 11,000 on my 07 and the clutch has never been adjusted. Hmmmmm... If you do get the new discs, also get the heavier stronger springs to replace the weak factory ones. That may aide in keeping the clutch from wearing so quickly.

I have about 1,500 mi on my 08 and my clutch is at the last inch of my lever. Is there an internal adjustment? The only adjustment I see on the outside is the one by the lever to take up the slack in the cable.

I have never replaced a clutch on a bike (or any other vehicle). Am I not using it correctly?

I'm at 17,000 miles on a 98. Clutch is fine and so is factory cable. I'd replace the cable first. It's about 18 bucks and don't forget there is adjustment down on the case right where the cable connects to the clutch.

be sure they compress the same amount. The ones we got did not so I couldn't disengage the clutch.

My '05 had close to 30,000 miles when I sold her. Stock clutch, replaced a broken cable at 26,000 miles.

I usually run my motorcycle clutches until they slip. I've always been able to baby them home when they start slipping.
