chain question

It seems my chain adjustment doesn't keep. By that I mean I tighten my chain and it seems to loosen up. I tighten it to manual specification and tighten the swingarm ends then tighten down my axel. Then in a couple hundred miles is loose again. Chain and sprockets have 13.5K miles. Any Ideas?

I believe we are both in the same situation. I'm at the same mileage and running in to the same issue, plus I have this metal/metal rubbing or crunching noise near the front sprocket. I searched the forum and the consensus is that the front sprockets wear out kind of fast. Seems 13k is probably past their expected lifespan. I have ordered new front and rear sprockets along with a new chain in hopes this clears up my issues.

I'm pretty hard on the drive chain also. I do keep it lubed, but I do a lot of downshifting/engine braking for most of my stopping and I'm sure that doesn't help anything.

When I adjust my chain , I always adjust it loser than what is called for .. I do this cause if I adjust it to what's specified and than sit on the bike it than becomes way to tight . Your weight on the bike will actually change the slack that you adjusted into it which could cause it to wear prematurely .
