Tire Irons and tool tube

Tryin to kill two posts with one. Anyway

I am considering a tool tube for my 07. I am thinkin about putting it on the left side opposit the muffler. I would like to store three tire irons, tire tube, CO2 inflator and a few other things for the trail. Suggestions appreciated. I don't ride real tough stuff just dirt roads and fire trails. I had also thought of strapping it to the top of the rack since I only carry a bag back there anyway. Any reason why not?

Where did you get your tire irons? Are 10" spoon irons about right? What is a good size for the tube? Also is if possible to use the helmet lock with the tool tube?

thanks for the help
