Some new stuff came in the mail today!

Last week I ordered some parts, at the recommendation of some devout KLRforum members. I had the problem with my 05 KLR weaving on the road at speeds above 65mph, more so when I had a tailbag on it, so I plan to remedy the situation (hopefully) with the new parts. I ordered the Acerbis supermoto front fender (black) from Bikebandit.com (since everyone else had it on backorder) and it came in the mail today, so I drilled it and installed it (looks sweet, too). I ordered the Forkbrace, bar end weights, and wider mirrors from TPI. Hopefully these parts will make my KLR more highway friendly. As soon as I pulled out the bike out of the garage to test the feel of the bike with the new fender on the highway, it started to rain. Rain + motorcycles + highway + idiot Atlanta drivers = death. Needless to say, I put her back in the garage and will give her a test run tomorrow. I also plan on raising the fork height to make them flush with the tree on saturday morning when I have some extra time. This was just a little preliminary report...I plan on giving yall a full report with pictures this weekend when I get all the parts put on. Later gator!

Looking forward to the report. My money's on the fork tubes being improperly installed. Why don't you do one thing at a time so we'll know for sure the cause of the handling anomaly.

that's the plan. gonna ride it tomorrow with the new fender, saturday with the fender and fork brace, then sat afternoon I will make the forks flush and see what happens. I'm betting on my problem being solved and my $200 in parts will turn my KLR into a road trip machine!

Include pics when you can. I'd like to see that front fender installed. I'm thinking about the same fender myself.

will do. did a preliminary run today, plan on taking it out for a couple hundred miles tomorrow...will put up the report tomorrow or sunday. Fender looks good...makes the front end look kinda small, but I think it is because the headlight fairing is Gi-normous and dwarfs the fender.

the task is complete. All parts installed. The new Acerbis Fender....gets most improvement award. After a a few minutes on the highway at 80mph, I could tell the difference. With the forkbrace, I noticed a little more stability. Haven't made the top of my forks flush with the tree yet, but I will as soon as I get it somewhere that I can get it on a lift. The bike still weaves a little, but it used to do it at 70-80mph, now it just does it at 80+ mph. I don't go any faster than that anyway, so it's all good. Plus, alot of the weaving comes from the wind hitting the non-aerodynamic human that rides the bike. I hadn't had time to get any pics, and today I took it to North Georgia and put it thru the paces on some fire roads and some trailwork, with a river crossing here and there. Needless to say, she is covered in dust and dirt. I will take a couple pics of it dirty, but after I shine her back up tomorrow, I will put the pics on here.

some new stuff came in the mail today!

front fender mounted up beautifully. It doesn't come pre-drilled, so when you drill the holes, take your time. Measure the distances between holes on the original fender, make some marks, don't do all the holes at once. Start with the front 2 holes, check to make sure they fit, then do the back 2. It took me about 45 minutes, and it looks great. The brace didn't cause any issues. I am not 100% sure how much better the bike handles with the brace vs without it, but I'm sure it adds a little stability. We have caught the ass end of this hurricane the past week and a half since I've put the parts on, been raining and miserable, so no pics yet. Was nice today, but the camera wasn't at my house. Gonna take a few pics tomorrow hopefully.
