klr klx parts swap

gday all i am new to this whole forum thing and am in need of some help.
i have recently had an altercation with a guard rail on my way to work and have bent my front wheel, break disk and forks.
i was wondering if there was any one out there who knew if i could repair my bike with klx parts.

Don't know; you might check part numbers of corresponding parts from OEM fiches/parts lists; e.g. from BikeBandit, Kawasaki, et al.

Someone will chime in with confirmation but recall that people have swapped KLX front suspension onto KLR so the reverse will be doable. I'm not recalling if the steering stem and triple tree was a direct swap which is what you really need to know. If memory serves there was discussion in this group around that subject but perhaps the site upgrade has made the old stuff in accessible?

There were some KLX people on Yahoo so may be able to check there. Too bad there was damage to a KLX as KLR are common place but KLX rare.

Regardless, please let us know any specifics you discover and perhaps someone will remember for the next person.

I read that he bent up his KLR and wants to know if it can be repaired with KLX parts.

Front fork swaps aren't terribly difficult if you start with something in the realm of appropriate.

Don't know if there is anything out there that is a direct swap-in.

This thread, by justjeff, will give you an idea of the sort of work that is usually required.

This thread, from over on .net (see, unlike SandyVagina over there, we don't mind cross-linking) talks about a KLX swap.
