Balancer shaft spring

Hi,
I'm trying to build an engine for my klr that I got second hand that was just in a bunch of cardboard boxes! Anyway there is supposed to be a spring on the front balancer shaft between the notch on the shaft and the clutch cover, it looks like two concave washers. Is it important because I cant find them anywhere, or will it be ok without them?
Many thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,
Do you have a Clymer manual for your bike? It will be a lot easier to help if you have a manual to look at.

Ian,
It will help immensely if you go to 'User CP' and add some information about yourself and your bike, so everybody knows what you are working on. Or type it in every time.

I did figure it out thou, KLR600!
I have never had one apart. But I would suggest they are probably needed. Rare for an engine builder to put some thing in for No Reason.

Qty 2, 92081-1755, Spring. Sorry to say No Longer Available from KMC USA. But you are in the UK, so maybe available.
They apparently help control the end play of the shaft, which can affect the clearance of the water pump impeller to cover clearance. And there are 4 different thickness spacer shims for use just under the impeller.

Many thanks for the replies, I'm trying to build a 650, but only have the 600 manual so was assuming the 650 would have these too seeing as the shafts, weights and water pump seem to be the same!
But I'm guessing now that's why I cant find them! So i'll crack on making sure I can find all the rest of the parts!
Could I take a pic of the manual an show everybody or is that not aloud due to copyright?
Many thanks again for the replies

Ian,
On the USA www.kawasaki.com website one can go to 'owner center' and view the parts schematics.

Ian,
The KLR650 engine does Not use those concave spring washers at all.
I'll suggest it is best to get a proper KLR650 manual.

Many thanks for the replies and the link. That will be very handy!

I've been trying to find a cheap 650 manual but so far the spring washers seems to be the only different thing assembly wise. I know the primary drive gears and first an second gears are different too( and the crank an piston)!

Nearly time for a dummy build, or two.

Thanks again
