Question Newbie to KLR (250).. Needs a carb slide..help?

I took the plunge and bought a "classic" KLR (1988) Love it for the duel purpose possibility, and took it for the first ride today..
Unfortunately it died and had to be returned to the garage to be inspected..
The carb slide is worn and I think it is the reason for the over-fuelling issue I am having.
Any knowledge on where/ from whom I can purchase one to suit at a reasonable cost would be a lot of help.
Or any known issues with this carb configuration would be great also..

Thanks for taking the time out to read.
Ride safe.

Don't know what your problem might be, but . . . "over-fueling" isn't a symptom of a worn slide, AFAIK.

If the diaphragm is serviceable, oughta go!

Don't know the manifestation of, "over-fueling" you mention. Float valve sticking open?

Regardless--only source of CVK34 carburetor parts I'm aware of is . . . Kawasaki or a "dismantler" (junk yard).

That said, the KLR250 is one of the most under-rated and capable dual-sport bikes in that displacement range, IMHO; good luck!

Thank you very much... I will update the overfuelling issue" but for now.. Can you recommend any decent junkyards I can contact to try and get a replacement diaphragm from?
All the carb kits available online seem to be seals and needles..

First, is your current diaphragm unserviceable? "If it ain't broke . . ."

For "dismantlers," I'd reckon you need to find a listing for, "used motorcycle parts." Don't know if anyone would part out a KLR250 carb; might sell the whole thing.

Otherwise, your friendly local neighborhood Kawasaki dealer will sell you a new carb slide-and-diaphragm assembly for an exorbitant fee. Maybe available direct from Keihin, but . . . cost might be about the same.

No substitutable Harley parts, AFAIK, for the CVK34 (unlike the CVK40, as found on KLR650s).
