Any thoughts on the best panniers for a 2005?

Panniers are really a personal preference thing. I had 9 inch aluminum ones on my 2008, but since i never went on any big trips with it they were pretty much overkill. Rattled when empty, and made mounting the bike more challenging. To do it all again, I would look for a set of smaller capacity nylon bags. Then I could simply throw them on when I needed them, but leave them off for general riding and work commuting.

Mosko Moto makes nice soft bags. Not cheap, but bulletproof. Designed by riders, so...
